Scottish Fish & Chip Shop Best in UK

Atlantic Fast Food, in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire has been announced as the UK's best Fish and Chip shop at a ceremony in London.

Giovanni Fionda, the shops owner, was in London with his parents, who had ran the shop for many years, to accept the award. It's the third time in as many years that a Scottish chippie has come away with the award, with previous winners being the Anstruther Fish Bar in Fife and Townhead Cafe in Biggar.

Atlantic Fast Food was deemed the best after a the completion of a rigorous judging process which included a customer vote, taste tests, shop inspections and a presentation to a panel of industry experts.

Giovanni Fionda said, "To win this competition as a first-time entrant is a dream come true.

"It's the best thing to have happened to us in our professional life and has made all the hard work worth it.

"We've worked in the fish and chips business for many years and it's always been great fun."

He went on to say, "Our team are extremely hard-working and it's thanks to them and our loyal customers that we are taking home this trophy."
