Lachlan MacQuarrie (1715-1818)
The sixteenth chief of the clan, who entertained Johnson and Boswell. He was the last chief, and the longest-lived, dying when he was 103 years old!

Lachlan MacQuarrie Lachlan MacQuarrie (1762-1824)
Rose to the rank of Major-General in the army, he then became governor of New South Wales. He was known for his strong moral sense and was termed the “Father of Australia”.


Prof. John MacQuarrie (b.1919)
An eminent theologian, he published many papers of religious thought and theology.
