The also owned tullibole castle kinrosshire and the tower of lethendry in pertshire. I always that us herons where centred in galloway and the borders only , what's interesting is that the herons of kirroughtree share the same armourial bearings as the family show owned all these castle proving the are of the same stock . I was pleased to find new info on our heron ancestors and pleased to share it .when you research this for yourselves you will find the herons had long standing blood fued with the chalmers and blair families in perthshire really interesting stuff
