The Te Anau Tartan festival celebrates all that is Scottish. The South of New Zealand has a strong Scottish ancestry, and we celebrate that with Scottish music, dance and Highland Games. A 3 day weekend of fun family activities to celebrate the south's Scottish roots! Starts on Friday with a Whisky Appreciation evening & the "Southland Whisky Tasting Championships". Highland Games take place in the grounds of Te Anau Lodge on Saturday followed by a "Highland Hoedown" (Ceilidh style jam session). Festivities continue on Sunday at Te Anau Airport & feature a 1 mile "Flying Scotsmen" race - in kilts. Info: kirsty@dalkeith.co.nz.
