The greatest golf team event in the world sees the European team bid to defend their trophy.

No event in golf stirs the passion quite like The Ryder Cup, where 24 individual players from both Europe and the US form two teams to compete for one of the most famous trophies in sport.

The magnificent Gleneagles Hotel will provide the setting for the 40th playing of the matches, and the first in Scotland, the Home of Golf, in more than 40 years.

More than 250,000 spectators will squeeze into the Perthshire venue to create an incredible atmosphere for an enthralling six days of action, watched by more than half a billion people in 183 countries worldwide.

There will be cheers and there will be tears - but at the end of the week only one team will take the trophy home. This is golf, but not as you've seen it before.
