Grandfather Mountain 2014

by | on July 17, 2014
We were lucky enough to go over to the World's largest Highland Games at Grandfather Mountain this year.

  • the moon that night was incredible. Bats also started flying around. Heard on the news that it was a 'super' moon. So appeared larger. Did add nicely to the atmosphere.

  • Everyone getting in place to watch the tourchlight ceremony. We were directed to the slope on the left hand side - supposidly this is the best place.

  • On Friday night at Grandfather Mountain is the tourchlight ceremony. Was so glad we got to see it. Each clan announced themselves then added their tourch to what looked like a big wooden star in the middle. Loved the theatre of this - would be great to see this happen over here.

Would love to see Highland games in Scotland. I partake in the Fergus Highland games in Ontario.
