Major-General Andrew Gilbert Wauchope (5 July 1846 – 11 December 1899) was a British Army officer, killed commanding a brigade at the Battle of Magersfontein in the South African War. Born in Niddrie, he joined the Black Watch in 1865 and worked his way up the ranks. He was promoted to Major-General in 1898 thanks to his efforts in the Sudan campaign.
