Adam Smith (5 June 1723 - 17 July 1790)

Adam Smith, a key figure during the Scottish Enlightenment, was a pioneer of political economics, as well as a moral philosopher. His best known works include The Theory of Moral Sentiments (1759), and, what is generally considered as his masterpiece, the 1776 book An Inquiry into the Nature and Cause of the Wealth of Nations, or just The Wealth of Nations, as it's commonly shortened to.
The Wealth of Nations is seen as groundbreaking work in the field of economics, and Smith is widely seen as the father of economics.
