Very busy summer! Travelling from Oregon through Washington and up into British Columbia, Canada, attending all the "games" where the Pipe Band our grandson belongs to, The Portland Metro Youth Pipe ...Very busy summer! Travelling from Oregon through Washington and up into British Columbia, Canada, attending all the "games" where the Pipe Band our grandson belongs to, The Portland Metro Youth Pipe Band, played in competition. It was a great summer. Then to top things off, our granddau!ghter, Veronica, had her wedding in our back yard. That too was fantastic! Now we'll have a BBQ on Labor Day and finish off the season with the games in Kelso, Washington. Wish I was 20 years, no maybe 30 years younger. Lots of energy expended. Still trying to search out some info on my grandfather and grandmother to fill out my knowledge of my Scottish family, but not much luck. Difficult to do long distance. But, I am tenacious if nothing else and I don't give up easily. So, now that I've explained my long absence from the site, I'll sign off for tonight and try to get a good night's rest. Not too far from my mothers home of Paisley, but my granddad was from Johnstone, up the road a bit.

My mother was born in Paisley and came to Canada at the age of four with her parents and two other siblings. Grandfather had gone on ahead and settled in Thorold, Ontario, Canada where he built a wee...My mother was born in Paisley and came to Canada at the age of four with her parents and two other siblings. Grandfather had gone on ahead and settled in Thorold, Ontario, Canada where he built a wee but n'ben before he sent for my Grannie and the children. He then added room by room to the house and a root cellar as well. My Mum remembers climbing a ladder to the loft, where they all slept. I am hoping to trace our Cumming family and possibly contact whomever might still be in Scotland that is related to us. Just don't know how to access records there.
