Could someone tell me if it is feasable to go from Skye to Islay, without to much trouble.
Thanks Ian Mac
Amanda Moffet
they're sort of opposite ends - you'd probably need to get back onto the mainland and travel to oban then get a ferry. Take a look at the ferry map: http://www.calmac.co.uk/destinations/route-map.htm
I'll try and post up a pdf version of this map.

Islay to mainland, dunno, probs bout half hour. Drive to Glasgow, bout 1 hour. Drive to Fort William, bout 2 hours. Drive to Mallaig, bout 3/4 hour. Ferries Mallaig to Skye, only 9:00 and 16:00 service at moment, bit will change soon (see www.calmac.co.uk ). If you want a preview of the scenery at A...

Ferries don't go to Skye from Oban, Amanda. Only from Mallaig since they built the bridge.

Chas Mac Donald

The Glenelg ferry starts at Easter, much nicer way of getting to Skye

There's no direct route but I you go from Armadale in Skye to Mallaig then via Fort William to Oban you can get the ferry to Isla via Colonsay.
