My grannys brother 4th from the left,front row.Dont know which brother this is but surname MacDonald.Is there anyone who can amazingly work out the regiment?

Really hard to tell without a good shot of the badges, caps don't give too much away either nor does the fact they are all in standard no2/no8 dress. Do you know where they were stationed or where they mostly came from? Knowing the recruiting areas can be a help

My granny was from Dornie so i should imagine around that area.

Nadine has been doing some work on Scottish Regiments ( we are working on a new site at the moment ) she has some research material on recruiting areas so ill ask her tomorrow.

Bit of information courtesy of Nadine. Only one Regiment traditionally recruited in this area. The Queens Own Highlanders which incorporated the Seaforth and Cameron Highlanders. The one cap badge you can see in the pic is round so that rules out the Seaforth so could be Cameron Highlanders
