Clan Lindsay People

Sir David Lindsay (1486-1555)
From a prominent Cupar family, he became Lord Lyon, King of Arms. Sir David worked in embassies in France, absorbing the country’s culture, which re-surfaced within his poetic and dramatic work.

It is his poetry and literary work for which he is best remembered, his greatest moment being “Ane Satyre”.

Sir Walter Scott used Lindsay’s work for historical referenceRobert Lindsay of Pitscottie (1500-65) 
Writer of “The Historie and Cronicles of Scotland”, which covers the years from 1435 to 1565, and was first published in 1728. Whilst writing stories set in such times, Sir Walter Scott used Lindsay’s work for historical reference.
